Annual Appeal Benefiting Palliative Care

Written by Karen McCart on . Posted in News

It’s not to late to support our 2015 annual appeal, Improving Quality of Life through Palliative Care.

Palliative Care is specialized medical care for people with serious illness. It focuses on providing patients with relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family. Palliative Care is provided by a specially trained team of doctors, nurses and other specialists who work together with a patient’s other doctors to provide an extra layer of support. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness and can be provided along with curative treatment.  This type of care is time intensive, expensive, and largely not reimbursed by insurance.

By meeting our goal of $50,000, we will be able to expand the non-traditional therapies such as music, massage, aroma, pet, and dignity therapy, which can provide additional comfort to our patients and their loved ones.

We have received great support from our donors, raising $40,000 thus far. Please consider making a year end tax-deductible gift today for Palliative Care, or one of the other many areas needing your support. Click here to make a donation now.
