Congratulations to the 2017 Scholarship Recipients
Since 1985, Confluence Health Foundation has awarded more than $986,000 in scholarship funds. Foundation programs like this are made possible by our many generous donors. The Foundation is pleased to announce that 34 scholarship recipients were awarded over $50,000. In addition, there is over $6,000 available for certification reimbursement on a first come, first served bases. (Application here 2017-18 Certification Application) Combined, that is over $56,000 that the Foundation has available to help employees further their education.

Jean Wood Nursing – Angelica Acuna
The Jean Wood Scholarship was established through a gift from the Wood estate in 2002 to provide one year of tuition to a nursing student.  Jean Wood was a nurse for over 30 years.  Her career started in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II as a 2nd Lieutenant.  After discharge, she continued her nursing career as a RN at St. Anthony’s Hospital and Rosewood Hospital and retired when Rosewood became Central Washington Hospital.

Margaret Weed Mentoring Scholarship – Lucia Avila-Romero
Originally established in 2003, the purpose of the Mentoring Scholarship is to encourage professional nursing development which ultimately translates into empowered practice and excellence in patient care. In 2006, the scholarship was renamed in memory of Margaret Weed, a teacher and Foundation Board member, who served as a mentor to many of her students.

Wenatchee Valley Street Rod Scholarship – Mary Eggers, Angela Jeske, Katherine Repp
Since 2001, the Wenatchee Valley Street Rods Club, a guild of the Foundation, has donated nearly $130,000 to the Hospital using proceeds from the Apple Run Car Show. The guild disbanded in 2013, but is still able to award scholarships from funds previously raised.

Dianne Kasnic Prinz – Rebecca Davenport
This scholarship is given in memory of Dr. Prinz, a scientist and NASA researcher. This award was established in 2004 to assist a registered nurse enrolled in a BSN program.

Career Assistance – Julie Kalkowski         
This scholarship was established in 2014, by Don and Tracey Kasnic, to give financial assistance to a current employee wanting to continue their education in a non-nursing healthcare field.

Congratulations to the 2016 Scholarship Recipients!
Since 1985, Confluence Health Foundation has awarded more than $925,000 in scholarship funds. Foundation programs, such as scholarships and Helping Our Peers in Emergencies (H.O.P.E.) are made possible by our many generous donors/employees of CWH, WVH and CH.  The Foundation is pleased to announce that $52,175 was recently granted to 34 scholarship recipients.

2015 Scholarship Recipients Announced

 Since 1989, the Foundation has awarded more than $786,000 in scholarship funds. Confluence Health Foundation programs, such as scholarships and Helping Our Peers in Emergencies (H.O.P.E.) are made possible by our many generous donors/employees of CWH, WVH and CH. The Foundation is proud to announce that over $47,000 was recently granted to the following scholarship recipients.

Jean Wood Nursing Scholarship – Jenessa Marlow

The Jean Wood Scholarship was established through a gift from the Wood estate in 2002.  Jean Wood was a nurse for over 30 years.  Her career started in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II as a 2nd Lieutenant.  After discharge, she continued her nursing career as a RN at St. Anthony’s Hospital and Rosewood Hospital and retired when Rosewood became Central Washington Hospital.

2013 CWH Foundation Scholarships Awarded

The Central Washington Hospital Foundation is proud to present the 2013 Scholarship recipients. Since 1989 over $687,000 has been awarded to more than 300 individuals through the Foundation Scholarship program.

Our Jean Wood Nursing Scholarship was awarded to Brianna Jarbeau. Brianna was raised in the Wenatchee Valley and is a nursing student at Wenatchee Valley College, following in the footsteps of her grandmother. She has been inspired by her experiences training with nurses from Central Washington Hospital and the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center. She is on track to achieve her goal of becoming a registered nurse. We congratulate Brianna on her achievements.

Nina Nguyen was awarded the Margaret Weed Mentoring Scholarship. Nina is also a student at Wenatchee Valley College and very grateful for this financial support to help her pursue a career in nursing.

Central Washington Hospital’s Denise Gyselinck and Melissa Scott were awarded the Dennis Key Scholarship. Denise was also awarded the Wenatchee Valley Street Rod Scholarship along with fellow employees Jessie Cook and Chelsea May.

Employees Amy Eckert and Russ DeJong were the well deserving recipients of the Dianne Kasnic Prinz Scholarship and are on their way to receiving their BSNs.

Employee Grants were awarded to Jessie Cook, Amy Eckert, Kai Folke, Enrique Gonzalez, Denise Gyselinck, Lacey Leonard, Chelsea May, Ryan May, Kira Meyerson and Melissa Scott.

The Foundation applauds the achievements of all of our scholarship recipients and on behalf of the Scholarship Committee, thank you scholarship recipients for your dedication and desire to continue your education to enhance our healthcare industry. You are our future!
