Epic Funds Two Foundation Programs

The Foundation began 2020 with a generous donation from our healthcare partners, Epic. Epic’s contribution will help fund another year of two programs, including Reach Out and Read the new Maternal Support Services Assistance Program.

Reach Out and Read provides books to primary-care patients ages 6-months to 5-years at the start of a well-child check-up. This program has been adopted as a standard of care in pediatrics because it creates an opportunity for providers to assess the development of their patient and helps stimulate important discussions with caregivers about language and literacy.

The Maternal Support Services Assistance Program for mothers in Okanogan County will be used to reduce the financial and logistical barriers to care facing women and their families by providing various methods of travel assistance and supportive services. Insufficient access to obstetric services increases the risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth, which can have lasting consequences on the physical, emotional, financial, and social wellbeing of moms and their babies. By reducing the cost and difficulty of travel, more women, especially those with limited financial resources, will have greater access to the obstetric care necessary to ensure healthy pregnancies and safe deliveries.

We are so excited to be able to provide these programs to our patients in 2020. Epic’s support, along with donations from our employees, patients, and the communities we serve, are critical to sustaining the programs that go above and beyond healthcare. Thank you!
