As a kid, did you ever wonder what you would be when you grew up? Some people found their calling early in life, but for others, the limitless possibilities seemed exciting—but also overwhelming.

That’s the idea behind Confluence Student Intern (CSI) Camp, hosted by Confluence Health and made possible in part by gifts from generous donors through their support to the Confluence Health Foundation. This week-long summer program offers local high school students a behind-the-scenes look at various healthcare careers, aiming to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals who will serve the community for years to come.

CSI Camp participants have the chance to visit numerous departments within the hospital, such as laundry and food services, security, the lab, pharmacy, all the medical floors, and even the helipad! The best part about CSI is that students get to talk with professionals from each of these areas to hear about their experiences.

The camp offers a window into the diverse and exciting career opportunities that are right in their backyard.

For the last several years, CSI has provided students with a chance to explore Confluence Health in a way that few people will ever get to experience. And the proof is in the pudding. There are now several CSI campers from previous summer cohorts working throughout the health system and fortifying our local healthcare workforce.

CSI is just another great example of how donor support can help shape the future healthcare in this region we call home!
