A Partnership that Removes Barriers to Cancer Care Across North Central Washington

The Confluence Health Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to the American Cancer Society for their continued generosity, which is making a profound difference in the lives of cancer patients throughout North Central Washington. With the launch of a new Transportation Grant award in April, care teams at Confluence Health are further empowered to ensure that transportation costs never stand in the way of lifesaving cancer treatment.
Thanks to this impactful grant, our dedicated teams in radiation oncology and infusion work closely with patients to identify those facing the most challenging journeys to care—and provide them with gas cards to help offset the cost of fuel. By easing the burden of transportation expenses, this generosity from the ACS allows patients and their families to breathe a little easier and focus on what truly matters: their health and healing.
Consider, for example, a patient traveling from Omak to Wenatchee five days a week for four weeks—covering nearly 900 miles each week just to receive lifesaving radiation therapy. Without assistance, the rising cost of gas could become overwhelming. However, because of the American Cancer Society’s grant, our care teams can help alleviate some of that financial stress, giving patients greater peace of mind and strength to continue their fight.

Every mile traveled, every patient supported, and every barrier removed brings us closer to a vision where cancer care is accessible to everyone in our region. Through this remarkable partnership, philanthropy is making a real difference—demonstrating that reliable transportation is more than just a ride; it is a lifeline, a source of hope, and a pathway to better outcomes for those battling cancer in our community.
On behalf of the amazing care teams that steward this precious grant on behalf of our patients, thank you American Cancer Society!
